Jason Benoit

Jason Benoit began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2005 with Republic Jiu-Jitsu, Newfoundland and Labrador's first BJJ school and an affiliate of Nova União. As one of the province's early practitioners, he became the ninth person in Newfoundland to earn a blue belt. Jason began teaching just one year into his Jiu-Jitsu journey and now holds the rank of four-stripe brown belt, bringing nearly 20 years of teaching experience to the mats.

While Jason has earned gold medals in competition, his true passion lies in teaching and helping students develop their skills. He is a strong believer in the importance of fundamentals, ensuring that every student builds a solid foundation before progressing to more advanced techniques. His classes place a strong emphasis on drilling and repetition, helping students develop techniques they can rely on under pressure.

Jason’s teaching style is straightforward and no-nonsense. He expects commitment and focus from his students, but for those willing to put in the work, he’s always ready to help them achieve their goals on and off the mats.
